Removal (Prizm GSi)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain cooling system. Remove air cleaner assembly. Disconnect accelerator cable, air intake duct, electrical connections and vacuum hoses from throttle body.
  2. If necessary, remove fuel rail with injectors attached. If fuel rail is to be removed, release fuel pressure. See FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE.
  3. Disconnect fuel lines from fuel rail. Disconnect electrical connections from fuel injectors. Remove fuel rail-to-cylinder head bolts. Remove fuel rail, with fuel injectors attached, from cylinder head. Ensure fuel injectors DO NOT fall off when removing fuel rail.
  4. Disconnect electrical connector from temperature sensor. Remove coolant by-pass pipe located near intake manifold. Remove intake manifold-to-cylinder block brace. Remove intake manifold bolts/nuts, intake manifold, and gasket.
