Removal & Installation: Camshaft: Installation

  1. Position camshafts at TDC No. 1 cylinder. See Figure . Install camshaft and camshaft bearing caps. Tighten camshaft bearing cap bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS table at end of article.
    CAUTION: Ensure arrow on camshaft bearing cap points toward timing belt end of engine. Install bearing caps so that numbers are in order.
  2. To install remaining components, reverse removal procedure. Before installing valve cover, apply Sealant (1052942) at valve cover-to-cylinder head gasket surfaces.
CAUTION: Check valve clearance if cylinder head or camshaft components were serviced or changed. See VALVE CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENT under ADJUSTMENTS.
