Cooling Fan & Main Relays Test (PRIZM & PRIZM GSI)

  1. Cooling fan and main relays are located in engine compartment relay box. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between relay terminals No. 1 and No. 2. See Fig 1 . Resistance should be 50-80 ohms.
  2. Connect battery power across terminals No. 1 and 2. When testing fan relay, continuity should exist between terminals No. 3 and 4 when relay is energized. When testing main relay, continuity should exist between terminals No. 4 and 5 when relay is energized. Replace relay if tests are not as specified.
