Steering Wheel & Horn Pad: Removal

  1. Ensure front wheels are straight. Disconnect negative battery cable. Pull horn button/center pad assembly from steering wheel contact plate. Use cloth-covered, flat-blade screwdriver to pry horn button/center pad assembly from contact plate (if necessary).
  2. Remove steering wheel retaining nut. Scribe mark on shaft and steering wheel for reassembly reference. Using steering wheel puller, remove steering wheel. Remove contact plate/rear cover attaching screws from back of steering wheel. Disconnect horn wire from contact plate. See Figure and Figure .
