Gauge Check

  1. Disconnect Yellow/White wire connector at temperature gauge sending unit on intake manifold. Connect test light between wire connector and ground. Turn ignition on. Test light should light dimly and gauge pointer should fluctuate toward hot.
  2. If gauge pointer is inactive, remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  . Connect ohmmeter leads across temperature gauge terminals on back of instrument cluster. See Fig 1 . Resistance reading should be 60 ohms. If resistance is not as specified, replace temperature gauge.
