Wheel Bearings: Removal

  1. Raise and support vehicle, allowing suspension to hang freely. Remove wheel. Remove spindle cap. Straighten staked portion of spindle nut. Remove and discard spindle nut. Remove washer.
    NOTE: Always use NEW spindle nut when old nut is removed.
  2. Pull brake drum from spindle using slide hammer attached to wheel lug nuts. Using a brass drift and hammer, tap wheel bearings and oil seal out of brake drum hub.
