Valve Lifter: Inspection

Inspect valve lifter and bore for damage. Measure O.D. of valve lifter and cylinder head bore. Determine valve lifter oil clearance. Replace valve lifter/cylinder head if not within specification. See VALVE LIFTERS SPECS TABLE at end of article.

CAUTION: Before installing valve lifter, pour engine oil through camshaft journal oil holes. Ensure oil flows from oil holes for valve lifters.
