Removal & Disassembly

  1. Remove timing belt and crankshaft sprocket. See TIMING BELT in this article. Remove oil pan and oil pump pick-up tube. See OIL PAN in this article.
  2. Remove dipstick tube from oil pump housing. Remove oil pump retaining bolts, oil pump and gasket.
    CAUTION: Note bolt length and location for reassembly reference.
  3. Remove oil pump cover from rear of oil pump. Remove oil seal from oil pump housing. Remove snap ring, spring and relief valve from oil pump housing.
