Oversize Bearing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1988 Chevrolet Sprint. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- The following procedure is used to select an oversize bearing in the event that the crankshaft must be repaired or replaced. Regrind journal to finished diameter of 1.7612-1.7618" (44.734-44.75 mm).
- Measure reground journal with a micrometer. From measurement obtained and letters stamped on oil pan mating surface, select new oversize bearing.
NOTE:
Oversize bearings are available in 5 sizes. Paint marks are applied for identification purposes. Each color indicates thickness at center of bearing.
