Oil Pump: Inspection
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1988 Chevrolet Sprint. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Check oil seal for damage. Inspect outer and inner rotors, rotor plate and oil pump case for wear or damage. Replace components as necessary.
- Using a feeler gauge, measure radial clearance between outer rotor and case. If clearance exceeds .012" (.31 mm) replace outer rotor. Using a straightedge and feeler gauge, measure side clearance. If pump side clearance exceeds .006" (.15 mm), replace oil pump assembly.
