Steering Column - Removal and Installation

1. Remove the steering column protector nut and clip, then the protector.
2. Remove pinch bolt between the steering and intermediate shafts, then remove the lower column mounting bracket bolts.
3. Remove the upper steering column to instrument panel attaching bolts.
4. Remove column from vehicle. Disconnect park lock cable at ignition lock and, on automatic transmission models, remove cable bracket.
5. Remove pinch bolt between intermediate and pinion shafts, then remove the intermediate shaft.
6. Reverse procedure to install noting the following:
a. Torque lower and upper steering column attaching bracket bolt to 11 lb ft Pull column toward you as you tighten the upper bracket.
b. Torque pinch bolts of intermediate shaft to 19 lb ft
