Fuel Gauge Sending Unit Test: Spectrum

  1. Using an ohmmeter between Black and Yellow/Red wires, check sending unit resistance with changes in float position. With float in FULL (up) position, resistance should be 1-5 ohms. With float in EMPTY (down) position, resistance should be 103-117 ohms. With float in 1/2 (middle) position, resistance should be 28.5-36.5 ohms.
  2. Check resistance between Black and Yellow/Blue wires. There should be continuity when sending unit is exposed to air. There should be no continuity when sending unit is in fluid.
