Cylinder Head: Reassembly
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE:
- Thoroughly clean all parts to be assembled.
- Before installing the parts, apply fresh engine oil to all sliding and rotating surfaces.
- Always use new valve stem seals.
- Install the valve.
- After applying engine oil to the valve stem seal, install new valve stem seal (A) by using the SST (09222-3C100).NOTE:
- Always use new valve stem seals.
- Incorrect installation of the seal could result in oil leakage through the valve guides.
- Assemble the valve stem seal so that it is in full contact with the cylinder head face.
- Apply engine oil to the entire outer circumferential surface of each valve stem and insert valve (A) into the valve guide.
- Install the valve spring (A).NOTE:
- Place valve springs so that the side coated with enamel faces toward the valve spring retainer.
- Install the spring retainer (A).
- Using the SST (09222-3K000, 09222-3K100), compress the valve spring and install the valve spring retainer locks.
After installing the valves, ensure that the retainer locks are correctly in place before releasing the valve spring compressor.
Information
- When installing the SST, insert the front support directly into the bolt hole on the cylinder head.
NOTE:- Do not press valve retainer more than 8 mm (0.31 in.)
- Lightly tap the end of each valve stem two or three times with the wooden handle of a hammer to ensure proper seating of the valve and retainer lock.
- After applying engine oil to the valve stem seal, install new valve stem seal (A) by using the SST (09222-3C100).
