Automatic Transmission System: Removal
- Turn ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
- Remove the engine and transmission assembly. (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY ")
- Disconnect the hydraulic motor connector (A) and pressure sensor connector (A).
- Remove the wiring after loosening the mounting bolts (A).
Tightening torque :
9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb-ft)
- Loosen the transfer case upper bolts (A).
Tightening torque
29.4 - 41.2 N.m (3.0 - 4.2 kgf.m, 21.7 - 30.4 lb-ft)
- Remove the transfer case (B) after loosening the lower bolts (A).
Tightening torque:
29.4 - 41.2 N.m (3.0 - 4.2 kgf.m, 21.7 - 30.4 lb-ft)
- Loosen the ground mounting bolts (A).
Tightening torque:
9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb-ft)
- Disconnect the connectors in the illustration shown below.
- E-Module connector
- Parking release actuator connector
- Parking switch connector
- Electronic oil pump connector
- Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector (A).
- Remove the wiring after loosening the mounting bolts (B).
Tightening torque :
9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb-ft)
- Remove the wiring after loosening the mounting bolt (A).
Tightening torque :
9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb-ft)
- Loosen the bolts and then removing the crankshaft position sensor (A).
Tightening torque :
9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb-ft)
- Remove the [LH] warmer catalytic converter (WCC).
- Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector (A).
- Remove the clamp (A).
- Loosen the nuts and then removing the warmer catalytic converter (WCC) (B).
- Remove the warmer catalytic converter (WCC) bracket (A).
- Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector (A).
- Remove the wiring after loosening the mounting bolts (A).
Tightening torque :
9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb-ft)
- Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector (A).
- Remove the wiring after loosening the mounting bolt (B).
Tightening torque:
9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb-ft)
- Remove the [RH] warmer catalytic converter (WCC).
- Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector (A).
- Remove the clamp (A).
- Loosen the nuts and then removing the warmer catalytic converter (WCC) (B).
- Remove the warmer catalytic converter (WCC) bracket (A).
- Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector (A).
- Disconnect the oil cooler tube (A).
- Loosen the engine bracket mounting nut (A).
Tightening torque :
63.7 - 83.4 N.m (6.5 - 8.5 kgf.m, 47.0 - 61.5 lb-ft)
- Remove the LH engine mounting support bracket (A).
Tightening torque :
49.0 - 58.8 N.m (5.0 - 6.0 kgf.m, 36.2 - 43.4 Ib-ft)
- Loosen the starter mounting bolt (A).
Tightening torque :
49.0 - 63.7 N.m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb-ft)
- Remove the dust cover (A).
- Remove the water cooled Intercooler bracket (A) after loosening the mounting bolt and nuts.
Tightening torque:
Bolt: 21.6 - 32.4 N.m (2.2 - 3.3 kgf.m, 15.9 - 23.9 Ib-ft)
Nut: 49.0 - 53.9 N.m (5.0 - 5.5 kgf.m, 36.2 - 39.8 lb-ft)
- Rotate the crank shaft and loosen the torque converter mounting bolts (B) by using tool (A).
Tightening torque :
45.1 - 52.0 N.m (4.6 - 5.3 kgf.m, 33.3 - 38.3 lb-ft)
NOTE:- When installing, apply the ATF to the bolts thread before tightening the bolts.
- When installing, lightly tighten the bolts (6-ea) and then tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
- Loosen the starter mounting bolts (A) and the transmission mounting bolts (B).
Tightening torque:
- 78.5 - 98.1 N.m (4.3 - 5.5 kgf.m, 57.9 - 72.3 lb-ft)
- 49.0 - 63.7 N.m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb-ft)
- Remove the transmission (A) after loosening the auto transmission mounting bolts.
Tightening torque:
39.2 - 46.1 N.m (4.0 - 4.7 kgf.m, 28.9 - 34.0 lb-ft)
