Removal And Installation

  1. Disconnect the battery negative terminal from the trunk room.
  2. Remove the engine cover.

    (Refer to Engine and Transmission Assembly - "ENGINE COVER ")

  3. Remove the LH and RH air cleaner assembly.

    (Refer to Intake and Exhaust System - "AIR CLEANER ")

  4. Remove the engine wiring connectors and harness clamps around the surge tank and then remove the connector brackets and wiring protector.

    Tightening torque: 

    6.9 - 9.8 N.m (0.7 - 1.0 kgf.m, 5.1 - 7.2 lb-ft)

  5. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose (A).

  6. Disconnect the purge control solenoid valve (PCSV) hose (A).

  7. Loosen the RH MPI injector connector bracket mounting bolt (A) and high pressure fuel pipe bracket mounting bolt (B).

    Tightening torque: 

    9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb.ft)

  8. Remove the surge tank stay (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    36.3 - 41.2 N.m (3.7 - 4.2 kgf.m, 26.8 - 30.4 lb.ft)

  9. Separate the intercooler outlet hose quick clamp (A).

    Information 

    • When separate the intercooler outlet hose, pull out the quick connector clamp (A) in the direction of the arrow as shown in figure below.

  10. Remove the surge tank (A) after loosening the mounting bolts.

    Tightening torque: 

    9.8 - 11.7 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.6 lb.ft)

  11. Remove the surge tank gasket (A).

    NOTE:
    • When installing, replace with a new gasket.
  12. Install in the reverse order of removal.
