Inspect Ignition Coil Assembly And Perform Spark Test

- Check for DTCs.NOTE:
- If a DTC is present, perform troubleshooting in accordance with the procedure for that DTC. (Refer to DTC INDEX )
- Check if sparks occur.
- Without diagnostic tool
- Remove the engine cover.
(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "ENGINE COVER ")
- Remove the ignition coils.
(Refer to Ignition System - "IGNITION COIL ")
- Using a spark plug wrench, remove the spark plugs.
(Refer to Ignition System - "SPARK PLUG ")
- Connect the connector after install the spark plug to ignition coil.
- Ground the spark plug to the engine.
- Check if sparks occur at each spark plug while engine is being cranked.NOTE:
- Do not crank the engine for more then 5 seconds.
- Remove the engine cover.
- With diagnostic tool
- Remove the engine cover.

- Remove the ignition coils.
(Refer to Ignition System - "IGNITION COIL ")
- Using a spark plug wrench, remove the spark plugs.
(Refer to Ignition System - "SPARK PLUG ")
- Connect the diagnostic tool to data link connector (DLC).
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Select "Vehicle, Model year, Engine, System".
- Select "Actuation Test".
- Select "Ignition Coil Enable/Disable".NOTE:
- Do not crank the engine for more then 5 seconds.
- Remove the engine cover.
- Without diagnostic tool
- If sparks do not occur, perform the following test.
- Using a spark plug wrench, install spark plugs.

- Install the ignition coils.
(Refer to Ignition System - "IGNITION COIL ")
- Install the engine cover.
(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "ENGINE COVER ")
