Removal And Installation

CAUTION:
  • Be careful not to damage the parts located under the vehicle (floor under cover, fuel filter, fuel tank and canister) when raising the vehicle using the lift.

    (Refer to General Information - "LIFT AND SUPPORT POINTS ")

NOTE:
  • Disassembly of the thermostat would have an adverse effect, causing a lowering of cooling efficiency.
  1. Remove the engine cover.

    (Refer to Engine and Transmission Assembly - "ENGINE COVER ")

  2. Drain engine coolant by loosening the drain plug.

    (Refer to the Cooling System - "COOLANT ")

  3. Disconnect the radiator lower hose (A).

  4. Remove the water inlet fitting (A).

    Tightening torque:  18.6 - 23.5 N.m (1.9 - 2.4 kgf.m, 13.7 - 17.4 lb-ft)

  5. Remove the O-ring (A) and thermostat (B).

    NOTE:
    • Install the thermostat jiggle valve (A) facing upwards.

  6. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  7. Fill the engine coolant.

    (Refer to Cooling System - "COOLANT ")

  8. Recheck coolant level.
