Removal And Installation
- Turn ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.CAUTION:
- When lifting a vehicle using a lift, be careful not to damage the lower parts of the vehicle (floor under cover, fuel filter, fuel tank, canister).
(Refer to General Information - "LIFT AND SUPPORT POINTS ") - Loosen the rear wheel nuts slightly.
Raise the vehicle, and make sure it is securely supported.
- Remove the rear wheel and tire.
(Refer to Suspension System - "WHEEL ")
- Remove the rear brake caliper.
(Refer to Brake System - "REAR BRAKE CALIPER ")
- Remove the rear brake disc (A) after loosening the screws.
Tightening torque:
4.9 - 5.8 N.m (0.5 - 0.6 kgf.m, 3.6 - 4.3 lb-ft)
- By hammering on a chisel, unlock the driveshaft lock hub nut caulking.
- Loosen the caulking nut (A).
Tightening torque:
294.2 - 313.8 N.m (30.0 - 32.0 kgf.m, 217.0 - 231.5 lb-ft)
NOTE:- The driveshaft lock nut must be replaced with new one.
- When replacing the drive lock hub nut, use only the nut with screw thread (A) on the end.
- Tighten the driveshaft lock hub nut to the specified tightening torque, and caulk by using a chisel and hammer.
- If there are two key seats, perform on all two seats.
Caulking depth (A): 1.5 mm (0.0591 in)
- The driveshaft lock nut must be replaced with new one.
- Loosen the wheel speed sensor bracket mounting bolt (A).
- Remove the rear wheel speed sensor (A) after loosening the mounting bolt.
Tightening torque:
8.8 - 13.7 N.m (0.9 - 1.4 kgf.m, 6.5 - 10.1 lb-ft)
- Separate the stabilizer link from the rear carrier after loosening the mounting bolt and nut (A).
Tightening torque:
34.3 - 49.0 N.m (3.5 - 5.0 kgf.m, 25.3 - 36.2 lb-ft)
- Separate the rear upper arm front from the rear carrier after loosening the mounting bolt and nut (A).
Tightening torque:
156.9 - 176.5 N.m (16.0 - 18.0 kgf.m, 115.7 - 130.2 lb-ft)
- Separate the rear upper arm rear from the rear carrier after loosening the mounting bolt and nut (A).
Tightening torque:
156.9 - 176.5 N.m (16.0 - 18.0 kgf.m, 115.7 - 130.2 lb-ft)
- Separate the rear assist arm rear from the rear carrier after loosening the mounting bolt and nut (A).
Tightening torque:
156.9 - 176.5 N.m (16.0 - 18.0 kgf.m, 115.7 - 130.2 lb-ft)
- Separate the rear lower arm rear from the rear carrier after loosening the mounting bolt and nut (A).
Tightening torque:
156.9 - 176.5 N.m (16.0 - 18.0 kgf.m, 115.7 - 130.2 lb-ft)
- Remove the rear drive shaft (A) from the rear carrier.NOTE:
- When removing the drive shaft, use a plastic hammer in order to avoid shock applied to the axle.
- When removing the drive shaft, do not forcibly pull or excessively bend the axle to separate.
- Remove the rear carrier after loosening the mounting bolts (A).
Tightening torque:
88.3 - 107.9 N.m (9.0 - 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 - 79.6 lb-ft)
- To install, reverse the removal procedures.
- Check the alignment.
