Removal And Installation

CAUTION:
  • When lifting a vehicle using a lift, be careful not to damage the lower parts of the vehicle (floor under cover, fuel filter, fuel tank, canister).

(Refer to General Information - "LIFT AND SUPPORT POINTS ")
  1. Loosen the rear wheel nuts slightly.

    Raise the vehicle, and make sure it is securely supported.

  2. Remove the rear wheel and tire.

    (Refer to Suspension System - "WHEEL ")

  3. Remove the rear axle assembly.

    (Refer to Driveshaft and axle - "REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY ")

  4. Remove the rear drive shaft (B) from the rear differential carrier by using the pry bar (A).

    NOTE:
    • Replace the rear driveshaft with an assembly unit instead of disassembling it.
    • Do not insert the pry bar too deep, as this may cause damage to the oil seal.
    • Do not pull the driveshaft by excessive force it may cause components inside the joint kit to dislodge resulting in a torn boot or a damaged bearing.
    • Plug the hole of the transaxle case with the oil seal cap to prevent contamination.
    • Support the driveshaft properly.
      • When removing the differential carrier, first remove the drive shaft.
      • Do not allow the driveshaft to be bent forcibly or drooped by the loads of other components such as axle, differential and etc.
    • Replace the clip (A) whenever the driveshaft is removed from the differential carrier.

    • In case of vehicles equipped with the E-LSD, it is recommended to place the fry bar (A) on the stopper of E-LSD so that the stopper acts as a fulcrum when removing the RH driveshaft.

  5. To install, reverse the removal procedures.
  6. Check the alignment.
