Repair Procedures: Removal
- Be careful not to damage the parts located under the vehicle (floor under cover, fuel filter, fuel tank and canister) when raising the vehicle using the lift.
(Refer to General Information - "LIFT AND SUPPORT POINTS ")
- Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.
- To avoid damage, unplug the wiring connectors carefully while holding the connector portion.
Information
- Mark all wiring and hoses to avoid misconnection.
- Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
- Remove the engine cover.

- Remove the air duct.
(Refer to Intake and Exhaust System - "AIR CLEANER ")
- Remove the air cleaner assembly.
(Refer to Intake and Exhaust System - "AIR CLEANER ")
- Remove the engine under cover.
(Refer to Engine and Transaxle Assembly - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")
- Drain the engine coolant.
(Refer to Cooling System - "COOLANT ")
- Recover the refrigerant and then remove the high pressure pipe and low pressure pipe.

- Remove the engine room side cover (A).

- Remove the engine room cover (A).
- Remove the RH strut bar (A).
- Disconnect the fuse box connector (A) and then remove the main wiring protector (B).
- Remove the rear engine cover (A).
- Remove the wiring (A) from fuse box.
- Remove the ECM connectors (A) and ground cable (B).
- Disconnect the heater hoses (A).
- Disconnect the fuel hose (A) and PCSV hose (B).
- Remove the steering U - joint mounting bolt.
- Remove the water cooled intercooler outlet hose (A).
Information
- When disconnecting the intercooler hose, pull the quick connector clamp (A) in the direction of the arrow, as shown in the below illustration.
- Disconnect the radiator upper hose (A).
- Disconnect the water cooled intercooler reservoir tank over flow hose (A) and inlet hose (B).
- Disconnect the water cooled intercooler out let hose (A).
- Disconnect the radiator lower hose (A).
- Remove the engine ground cable (A).
- Remove the tie rod end ball joint from the knuckle.

- Remove the tension arm.
(Refer to Driveshaft and Axle - "FRONT DRIVESHAFT ")
- Remove the lateral arm mounting bolt from the knuckle.
(Refer to Driveshaft and Axle - "FRONT DRIVESHAFT ")
- Remove the propeller shaft mounting bolt and nut and then separate the propeller shaft from the transfer assembly.

- Remove the front driveshaft.

- Remove the transmission ground cable (A).
- Support the engine and transmission assembly with a floor jack.
- Remove the transmission mounting assembly (A).
Tightening torque:
Bolts, Nuts (B):
2WD (Nuts): 29.4 - 34.3 N.m (3.0 - 3.5 kgf.m, 21.7 - 25.3 lb-ft)
AWD (Bolts): 63.7 - 83.4 N.m (6.5 - 8.5 kgf.m, 47.0 - 61.5 lb-ft)
Bolts (C):
58.8 - 73.5 N.m (6.0 - 7.5 kgf.m, 43.4 - 54.2 lb-ft)
- Remove the front cross member mounting bolts (A).
Tightening torque:
196.1 - 215.7 N.m (20.0 - 22.0 kgf.m, 144.7 - 159.1 lb-ft)
- Support the engine and transmission assembly with a floor jack.NOTE:
- Before removing the engine and transmission assembly, make sure hoses and wire connectors are disconnected.
- When removing the engine and transmission assembly, be careful not to damage any surrounding parts or body components.
- Remove the transmission assembly from the engine assembly.

- Remove the engine mounting support bracket mounting nut and then remove the engine assembly form the front cross member by lifting up the engine hoist.
