Water cooled intercooler coolant

  1. Make sure the engine and radiator are cool to the touch.
  2. Remove the reservoir tank cap (A).

  3. Remove the engine room front under cover.

    (Refer to Engine and Transmission Assembly - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")

  4. Disconnect the water cooled intercooler outlet hose (A) and then drain the coolant from the water cooled intercooler.

  5. After coolant drain is completed, reconnect the water cooled intercooler outlet hose (A).

  6. Drain coolant in the reservoir tank and then clean reservoir tank.
  7. Install the coolant reservoir tank and then add the mixture of anti-freeze and water (55 - 60%) (except for North America, Europe and China: 45 - 50%)
    NOTE:
    • Fill coolant as far as possible with engine and all power supplies shut off.

    Coolant capacity:  Approx. 3.9 L (1.0 U.S.gal., 4.1 U.S.qt., 3.4 lmp.qt.)

    NOTE:
    • Use only genuine antifreeze/coolant.
    • For best corrosion protection, the coolant concentration must be maintained year-round at 55% (except for North America, Europe and China: 45%) minimum. Coolant concentrations less than 55% (except for North America, Europe and China: 45%) may not provide sufficient protection against corrosion or freezing.
    • Coolant concentrations greater than 60% will impair cooling efficiency and are not recommended.
    • Do not mix different brands of antifreeze/coolants.
    • Do not use the additional anti-rust additives.
  8. Start the engine.
    NOTE:
    • Keep the engine idle.
  9. Connect the diagnostic tool.
  10. Perform the "Electric Water Pump Control" under the "Vehicle S/W Management" of the diagnostic tool.
    NOTE:
    • When operating the electric water pump (EWP) forcibly, simultaneously charge the 12V battery to prevent battery discharge.
  11. When the electric water pump (EWP) operates and coolant circulates, refill coolant through the reservoir tank.
  12. When the operational sound volume of the electric water pump (EWP) becomes small and when no air bubbles can be seen in the reservoir tank. Bleeding of the cooling system is completed.
    NOTE:
    • With the first actuation, the electric water pump (EWP) is operated for about 30 minutes. But if necessary, more number of cycles may be required to drain the air completely.
    • After air bleeding is completed make sure that coolant in the coolant filling bottle flow without air bubble during the electric water pump (EWP) actuation. If the coolant flow is not seen or air bubbles are still seen, repeat steps  7 to  12.
  13. After air bleeding is completed, stop the electric water pump (EWP), add coolant to the "MAX" level on the reservoir tank and install the reservoir tank cap (A).

    NOTE:
    • It takes time to bleed out all the air in the cooling system. Refill coolant when coolant gets cool completely, when recheck the coolant level in the reservoir tank for 2-3 days after replacing coolant.
  14. Install the engine room front under cover.
