Water Cooled Intercooler Coolant Replacement and Air Bleeding

  1. Make sure the engine and radiator are cool to the touch.
  2. Remove the engine room under cover.

(Refer to Engine and Transmission Assembly - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")

  3. Open the water cooled intercooler reservoir tank cap (A).

  6. After draining engine coolant in the water cooled intercooler reservoir tank, clean the tank.

(Refer to Cooling System - "RESERVOIR TANK ")

  7. Fill the radiator with water through the radiator cap and tighten the cap.
  8. Key ON and connect the diagnostic device.
  9. Perform the "Electric Water Pump Control" under the "Vehicle S/W Management" of the diagnostic tool.
    CAUTION:
    • When operating the EWP forcibly, simultaneously charge the 12V battery to prevent battery discharge.
  10. Repeat steps  3 to 10 until the drained water runs clear.
  11. Fill fluid mixture with coolant and water (50%) slowly through the pressure cap
    CAUTION:
    • For best corrosion protection, the coolant concentration must be maintained year-round at 55% minimum. Coolant concentrations less than 55% may not provide sufficient protection against corrosion or freezing.
    • If the concentration of the coolant is 60% or more, it is not recommended as it may reduce the cooling effect.
  12. Perform the "Electric Water Pump Control" under the "Vehicle S/W Management" of the scan tool.
    CAUTION:
    • When operating the EWP forcibly, simultaneously charge the 12V battery to prevent battery discharge.

    Coolant capacity:

    3.9L (1.03 U.S.gal., 4.12 U.S.qt., 3.43 Imp.qt.)

  13. Start engine and check for leaks.
  14. Install the engine room under cover.

(Refer to Engine and Transmission Assembly - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")
