Repair Procedures: Removal

Set No. 1 Cylinder to top dead center (TDC)/Compression.

Turn the crankshaft pulley clockwise and align its groove with the timing mark "T" of the lower timing chain cover.

Check that the mark (A) of the camshaft timing sprockets is in the straight line on the cylinder head surface as displayed in the image. If not, turn the crankshaft clockwise, making one revolution (360°).

NOTE:

Do not rotate engine counterclockwise.

Remove the timing chain cover.
(Refer to Timing System - "TIMING CHAIN COVER ")
NOTE:
- Before removing the timing chain, mark the RH/LH timing chain with an identification based on the location of the sprocket because the identification mark on the chain for TDC can be erased.

Lower the tensioner link (A), compress the piston of the RH timing chain tensioner, and fix the tensioner with a fixing pin.
