Continuous Variable Valve Timing (CVVT)

  1. Install the continuous variable valve timing (CVVT) assembly.

    Tightening Torque: 

    Intake: 24.5 N.m (2.5 kgf.m, 18.1 lb-ft) + [52 - 58°]

    Exhaust: 64.7 - 76.5 N.m (6.6 - 7.8 kgf.m, 47.7 - 56.4 lb-ft)

    NOTE:
    • Install the dowel pin of CVVT assembly to the camshaft-inlet.

      Then, be careful not to install the pin on the oil hole.

    • Hold the hexagonal head wrench portion of the camshaft with a vise, and install the bolt and CVVT assembly.
    • After connecting the dowel pin of the CVVT to the camshaft or tightening the CVVT bolt, turn the housing of the CVVT assembly counterclockwise by hand to put the lock pin of the CVVT assembly in the correct position.
    • After connecting the CVVT assembly to the camshaft, ensure that the camshaft is immobilized without exerting any constraining force n the housing or sprocket of the CVVT assembly.
    • After connecting the CVVT assembly to the camshaft, ensure that the CVVT assembly is not press-fit too forcefully.
    • Do not rotate CVVT assembly when camshaft is installed to dowel pin of CVVT assembly.

      NOTE:
      • When installing the CVVT assembly bolt, prevent the camshaft from rotating by using a wrench at position (A).

  2. Install the Timing Chain.

    (Refer to Timing System - "TIMING CHAIN ")
