Removal And Installation

- Remove the engine room under cover.
(Refer to Engine and Transmission Assembly - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")
- Drain the coolant.
(Refer to Cooling System - "COOLANT ")
- Remove the water pump belt.
(Refer to Timing System - "DRIVE BELT ")
- Remove the electric thermostat (ECT).
(Refer to Cooling System - "ELECTRIC THERMOSTAT (ECT) ")
- Remove the water pump pulley (A).
Tightening torque:
7.8 - 9.8 N.m (0.8 - 1.0 kgf.m, 5.8 - 7.2 lb-ft)
- Remove the water pump sub assembly (A) with gasket.
Tightening torque:
18.6 - 23.5 N.m (1.9 - 2.4 kgf.m, 13.7 - 17.4 lb-ft)
- Disconnect the turbocharger water feed hose (A).
- Remove the heater & bypass pipe mounting nuts (A).
Tightening torque:
9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb-ft)
- Remove the water pump housing (A) with gasket.
Tightening torque:
18.6 - 23.5 N.m (1.9 - 2.4 kgf.m, 13.7 - 17.4 lb-ft)
- Disconnect the heater hoses (A).
- Disconnect the bypass hose (A).
- Remove the heater & bypass pipe (A).
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
- Fill the coolant.
(Refer to Cooling system - "COOLANT ")
- Start engine and check for leaks.
- Recheck engine coolant level.
