Removal And Installation

- Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
- Remove the engine cover.
(Refer to Engine and Transmission Assembly - "ENGINE COVER ")
- Remove the engine room under cover.
(Refer to Engine and Transmission Assembly - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")
- Drain the coolant.
(Refer to Cooling System - "COOLANT ")
- Remove the RH rear strut bar cover (A).
- Remove the engine control module (ECM) cover (A).
- Remove the LH rear strut bar cover (A).
- Disconnect the wiring connector and harness from the engine room.
- Disconnect the engine control module (ECM) connector (A).
- Disconnect the transmission control module (TCM) connector (B).
- Disconnect the wiring protector (C).
Tightening torque:
4.9 - 7.8 N.m (0.5 - 0.8 kgf.m, 3.6 - 5.8 lb-ft)
- Remove the cowl top cover.
(Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "COWL TOP COVER ")
- Disconnect the wiring connector and harness from the engine room.
- Disconnect the front control connector (A).
- Disconnect the starter motor ground cable (B).
- Disconnect the alternator ground cable (C).
- Disconnect the wiring protector (D).
Tightening torque
Bolt: 7.8 - 9.8 N.m (0.8 - 1.0 kgf.m, 5.8 - 7.2 lb-ft)
Nut: 4.9 - 7.8 N.m (0.5 - 0.8 kgf.m, 3.6 - 5.8 lb-ft)
- Disconnect the heater hoses (A).
- Disconnect the radiator upper hose (A).
- Remove the engine room bulkhead (A).
- Remove the water outlet pipe (A).
Tightening torque:
9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb-ft)
- Disconnect the wiring connectors and harness clamps and remove the wiring protector around the water temperature control assembly.
- Disconnect the bypass hose (A).
- Disconnect the oil cooler hose (A) and electric throttle body control (ETC) module water hose (B).
- Remove the water temperature control assembly (A) with gasket.
Tightening torque:
Bolts:
14.7 - 19.6 N.m (1.5 - 2.0 kgf.m, 10.8 - 14.5 lb-ft)
Nuts:
19.6 - 23.5 N.m (2.0 - 2.4 kgf.m, 14.5 - 17.4 lb-ft)
NOTE:- Always use a new water temperature control assembly gasket.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
- Fill the radiator with coolant.
(Refer to Cooling system - "COOLANT ")
- Start engine and check for leaks.
- Recheck the coolant level.
