Detecting Condition |
Possible Cause |
| Case 1 |
Main Action |
- Measure ECT Signal - Stuck low
|
- Poor connection or damaged harness
- Faulty ECT sensor
- Faulty cooling system
|
| Prerequisite condition |
- ECT at the time of engine start is lower than 76°C (169° F).
- Battery voltage is between 6V and 16V.
|
| Threshold Value |
- ECT goes up to 0.75°C (33.4°F) to 35°C (95°F) comparing with it at the time of engine start.
|
| Case 2 |
Main Action |
- Measure ECT Signal - Stuck high
|
| Prerequisite condition |
- ECT during engine start is higher than or equal to 76°C (169°F).
- Battery voltage is between 11V and 16V.
- IAT (Intake Air Temperature) at the time of engine start is between -10°C (14°F) and 70°C (158°F).
- Driving condition at partial load lasts longer than 250 to 500 seconds.
- Driving condition at low load lasts longer than 200 to 400 seconds.
- Ambient air temperature is higher than -10°C (14°F).
|
| Threshold Value |
- ECT variation since engine start is lower than 2.25°C (36.05°F).
|
| Case3 |
Main Action |
|
| Prerequisite condition |
- ECT in 15 seconds after starting goes down below 1.4°C (34.5°F).
- Engine stop time is longer than 480 minutes.
- Battery voltage is between 6V and 16V.
|
| Threshold Value |
- Deviation between ECT and 2 other temperature sensors (IAT, AAT or EOT) is higher than 20°C (68°F) and Deviation among other temperature sensors (IAT, AAT, EOT) is lower than or equal to 20°C (68°F).
