Rail Pressure Sensor Inspection

  1. Turn "OFF" the ignition switch.
  2. Connect probe to signal terminal of rail pressure sensor connector.
  3. Measure waveform of signal line of rail pressure sensor during acceleration and deceleration.

    Specification:  Voltage of rail pressure sensor is increased during acceleration.

  4. Is waveform within specification?

    YES 

    • Check for poor connection between ECM and component: backed out terminal, improper mating, broken locks or poor terminal to wire connection. Repair as necessary and go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.

    NO 

    • Substitute with a known-good rail pressure sensor and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace rail pressure sensor and go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
