Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) Level Check

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

Start the engine to warm up the ATF.
NOTE: Do not step on the brake and accelerator simultaneously to warm up the ATF.
Check by using KDS that the temperature of the ATF is between 50°C and 60°C (122 ~ 140°F).
Move the shift lever slowly from "P" to "D", then back to "P". Repeat this sequence two times and then move the shift lever to "N" range.
NOTE: Pause in each range for more than 2 seconds.

Lift the vehicle and remove the ATF level plug (A) from the valve body cover.

NOTE: When removing the ATF level plug, keep the vehicle on a level ground.

If there is no ATF drain or the amount of drained ATF is very low (within 20cc), add ATF SP-IV-RR 650cc to the ATF injection hole (A).

Tightening torque :

34.3 - 44.1 N.m (3.5 - 4.5 kgf.m, 25.3 - 32.5 lb-ft)

NOTE:

If ATF starts to overflow from the ATF level check plug, you must stop adding ATF.

Replace the gasket before reinstalling the ATF level check plug.

If the ATF flows out of the ATF level check plug in a thin steady stream, the level is normal.
Then finish the procedure and tighten the ATF level check plug.

Tightening torque :

22.6 - 24.5 N.m (2.3 - 2.5 kgf.m, 16.6 - 18.1 lb-ft)

After ATF level check or exchange, be sure to remove ATF from outside automatic transmission.
(Must make sure to remove the residual ATF between automatic transmission case and valve body cover.)
Put down the vehicle with the lift.
