Range Selector Lever Cable Adjustment
- Set the park brake and chock the wheels.NOTE:
Adjust the automatic transmission range selector cable while the transmission and the gear selector are in the Park position only. Failure to do so may cause mis-adjustment
- Verify the transmission manual shift lever is in the park position.
Using a suitable tool, pry back the locking tabs and remove and reposition the engine control module (1) away from the engine control module bracket.
Slide the retainer lock (1) forward to expose the cable adjustment retainer (2).
- Using a suitable tool, raise the cable adjustment retainer (2) to the unlock position.
- Verify that the range selector lever cable lever is in position "P" by turning the range selector lever cable lever counterclockwise.
Verify that the transmission control lever (1) is in position "P".
Depress the cable adjustment retainer (2) locking the retainer completely.
- Slide the retainer lock (1) rearward to cover the cable adjustment retainer (2).
- Check to ensure that all available shift controls operate properly.
Install the engine control module (1) into the engine control module bracket and ensure that the locking tabs are secure.
WARNING:After installing the transmission range selector shift cable, ensure the shifter cannot be shifted out of the Park position unless the brake is applied. Failure to perform this task can result in the shifter moving out of the Park position unintentionally, causing potential vehicle damage and bodily injury.
- Ensure the shifter cannot be shifted out of the Park position unless the brake is applied.
