Circuit/System Verification
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Verify there are no leaks in the component/system: Brake System - Refer to: Brake Fluid Loss
- Verify the brake pads are fully seated.
- If the brake pads are not fully seated
- Disconnect the battery.
- Gradually apply the brake pedal to approximately 2/3 of its travel distance.
- Wait 15 seconds and repeat until pedal is firm.
- Reconnect the battery.
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Verify DTC C05B0 is not set.
- If DTC C05B0 is set
Proceed to step 7.
- Go to next step: If DTC C05B0 is not set
- If DTC C05B0 is set
- All OK.
- Go to next step: If the brake pads are fully seated
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Clear DTCs.
- Verify DTC C05B0 is set.
- If code is not reset
All OK.
- Go to next step: If code is reset
- If code is not reset
- Perform the scan tool control function: Brake Hydraulics Test
- If the procedure/test does not pass
Refer to: Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding
- Go to next step: If the procedure/test passes
- If the procedure/test does not pass
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Verify DTC C05B0 is not set
- If DTC C05B0 is set
Replace the component: Brake Master Cylinder
- Go to next step: If the DTC is not set
- If DTC C05B0 is set
- All OK.
NOTE:
If the Brake Hydraulics Test still fails after performing the Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding at least 3 times, the scan tool control function Brake System Hydraulics Corner Test can be performed to help isolate the concern.
