Removal Procedure

    NOTE:

    When the spare tire is removed or modified, opening and closing operation of the rear door may be inconsistent and require manual assistance. This is due to weight changes that can affect door striker alignment. To assist the rear door while opening, pull outwards on the spare tire carrier directly after pressing the external button. To assist the rear door while closing, push the rear door inwards until the power closing latch engages.

    Remove the spare tire (1) from the rear door.

  2. Apply a double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces.

    Disconnect the rear door wiring harness electrical connector (1).

    Rear Door Power Assist Actuator Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

    Mark the location of the rear door hinges with a grease pencil to aid in alignment during installation.

  6. Support the door before removing the rear door hinge bolts.
  7. Rear Door Hinge Bolt (1) - Remove [8x]
  8. With the aid of an assistant, remove the rear door (2).
  9. Transfer components as necessary.
