Rear Door Adjustment (GQ2 / GQB / GQC)

  1. Mark the location of the rear door hinges with a grease pencil to aid as a reference point before loosening the hinge bolts.

    Rear Door Hinge Bolt - (1) Loosen [8x]

    Adjust the rear door in order to obtain an even gap between the quarter outer panel, the tail lamp and rear bumper fascia and so that the rear door is flush with the quarter outer panel, the rear body structure stop lamp and rear bumper fascia.

    • Spoiler to roof panel (a) 5.5 mm ± 1.5 mm (0.22 in ± 0.04 in)
    • Rear door to rear body structure stop lamp (b) 5.5 mm ± 1.5 mm (0.22 in ± 0.04 in)
    • Rear door to rear bumper fascia step pad (c) 5.5 mm ±.1.5 mm (0.22 in ± 0.04 in)

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    Rear Door Hinge Bolt - (1) Tighten [8x] - Fastener Specifications 

  5. Close the rear door, noting any of the following:

    Improper door alignment to the door opening, drag causing the door to move up/down upon contact with the striker

    Excessive closing effort to engage the door latch.

    NOTE:

    If required, adjust the rear door latch striker for proper door alignment and closing efforts.

    Rear Door Latch Striker Bolt (1) Loosen [2x]

  7. Reposition the rear door latch striker (2) in the up/down direction to eliminate drag, ensuring proper door alignment to the door opening is maintained.
  8. Reposition the rear door latch striker (2) in the in/out direction for proper door seal engagement, ensuring door closing efforts are correct.
  9. Rear Door Latch Striker Bolt (1) Tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Close and then open the door, inspect the rear door body side bumper (wedge) for scraping.

  11. If scraping is found on the top or bottom of the wedge (2), slightly loosen the rear door guide wedge bolts (1).
  12. Cycle the door open/close, the wedge will self-align.
  13. Rear Door Guide Wedge Bolt (1) Tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
  14. Using a clean towel and isopropyl alcohol, remove the grease pencil markings.
