Removal Procedure

WARNING:

Always ensure the Battery Maintenance Mode is inactive before disconnecting the low voltage 12 volt battery (or batteries). This mode can be active with the ignition off, regardless of whether the vehicle charging cord is plugged in or not. When this mode is active, the on-board high voltage battery charger (s) will energize the 12 volt battery cables and charge the 12 volt battery (or batteries). Disconnecting any battery cables while this mode is active may result in an electrical shock or a burn from hot battery cable leads.

Check the 12 volt battery voltage with a digital multimeter before disconnecting any battery cables leads. If the voltage is 13.5 volts or above, the Battery Maintenance Mode is active. The technician must wait for the T18 battery charger to deactivate before disconnecting the battery negative cable. Charging System Description and Operation

Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Clamp (5) - Loosen
Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Bolt (2) - Remove [2x]
Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Nut (3) - Remove

Turbocharger Outlet Duct Rear Clamp (1) - Loosen

Radiator Surge Tank Bolt (1) - Remove
Without opening the cooling system position the radiator surge tank (2) aside.

Disconnect the electrical connector. (1)

NOTE:

Label the brake pipes to ensure they are re-installed in the correct ports of the brake master cylinder.

Brake Pipe Fitting (2) - Remove [4x]
Plug the brake master cylinder ports and the brake pipes to stop fluid loss and contamination.

Insert a long, thin tool through the power brake booster pass-through from the engine compartment to remove the brake pedal retainer.

Separate brake system control module from the brake master cylinder with generous clearance to prevent contact with sensitive pins on the brake master cylinder.
