Removal Procedure

    WARNING:

    When a lift gate hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

    WARNING:

    When a liftgate hydraulic system component is removed, installed or disconnected, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle, liftgate hydraulic system, or personal injury.

    CAUTION:

    DO NOT exceed the limit of the liftgate power assist actuator ball socket joint's free motion during installation to prevent possibility of damage to the actuator.

    Liftgate Upper Center Trim Finish Panel (1) - Remove

    Disconnect the electrical connectors. (1)

  3. Disconnect the rear washer hose.
  4. 3rd Row Seat - Remove - 3rd Row Seat Removal and Installation (- AS8) , or 3rd Row Seat Removal and Installation (AS8)

    3rd Row Seat Belt Anchor Bolt (1) - Remove

  6. 3rd Row Seat Belt Buckle (2) - Reposition

    Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt Cap (1) - Remove

  8. Body Rear Corner Upper Garnish Molding Bolt (2) - Remove

    Body Rear Corner Upper Garnish Molding (1) - Remove

  10. Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Disconnect the electrical connector. (1)

    Disconnect the liftgate power assist actuator harness grommet (1).

  13. Release the 2 metal clips at the ends of the liftgate power assist actuator (2).
  14. Liftgate Power Assist Actuator (2) - Remove

    { If equipped } Remove the 2 metal clips at the ends of the liftgate strut (1).

  16. { If equipped } Liftgate Strut (1) - Remove

    Liftgate Hinge Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

  18. With the aid of an assistant, remove the liftgate. (2)
