Circuit / System Testing

NOTE:

Circuit / System Verification must be performed before proceeding with Circuit / System Testing.

  1. Ignition / Vehicle - Off
  2. Disconnect the X1 harness connector at the P29 Head - Up Display.
  3. Verify a test lamp illuminates between the ground circuit terminal 2 and B+.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate 

      Repair the open / high resistance in the ground circuit.

    • Go to next step: If the test lamp illuminates 
  4. Ignition ON / Vehicle In Service Mode.
  5. Verify a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 1 and ground.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate and the circuit fuse is good 
    1. Test for an open / high resistance in the B+ circuit.
      • If an open / high resistance is found, repair the fault in the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If an open / high resistance is not found
    2. Verify the fuse is not open and there is voltage at the fuse.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate and the circuit fuse is open 
    1. Test for a short to ground in the B+ circuit.
      • If a short to ground is found, replace the component responsible for causing the high current condition.
      • Go to next step: If a short to ground is not found
    2. Replace the P16 Instrument Panel Cluster Control Module.
    • Go to next step: If the test lamp illuminates 
  6. Verify the LVDS / USB cable is properly connected at all components and in - line connections, and there is no damage to the cable or connections.
    • If connection problems or cable damage is noted. 

      Perform the appropriate repair or replacement to correct any issues.

    • Go to next step: If no connection problems or cable damage is noted. 
  7. Replace the LVDS / USB cable between the P16 Instrument Panel Cluster Control Module and the P29 Head - Up Display.
  8. Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
  9. Verify Head - Up display functions normally.
    • If Head - Up display does not function properly 
    1. Replace the P29 Head - Up Display.
    2. Verify Head - Up display functions normally.
      • If Head - Up display functions properly

        All OK.

      • Go to next step: If Head - Up display does not function properly
    3. Replace the P16 Instrument Panel Cluster Control Module.
    • Go to next step: If Head - Up display functions properly 
  10. All OK
