Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling

    NOTE:

    Left side shown, right side similar.

    Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips on both sides of the vehicle.

  3. Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [2x]

    Reposition the weatherstrip as necessary.

  5. Use a flat-bladed plastic tool to disengage the retaining clip at the top of the body hinge pillar garnish molding (1) on both sides of the vehicle.
  6. Body Hinge Pillar Garnish Molding- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [2x]

    Use a flat bladed plastic tool to disengage the windshield pillar assist handle covers (1) from the windshield garnish molding on both sides of the vehicle.

  8. Windshield Pillar Assist Handle Cover- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [4x]
  9. Windshield Pillar Assist Handle Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [4x]

    Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips on both sides of the vehicle.

  11. Windshield Garnish Molding- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [2x]
  12. Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Use a flat bladed plastic trim tool.

    Reposition the instrument panel extension (1) to access the electrical connector.

  14. Disconnect the electrical connector from the instrument panel extension (1).

    Instrument Panel Extension (1) - Remove

    Instrument Cluster Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

    Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

  18. Reposition the instrument cluster (1) to access the electrical connector.
  19. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  20. Instrument Cluster (1) - Remove

    Radio Front Center Speaker Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  22. Radio Front Center Speaker (2) - Remove
  23. Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Disconnect the electrical connector.

  25. Using a suitable plastic trim tool, release the retaining tabs.
  26. Auxiliary Wireless Communication Interface Antenna (1) - Remove

    Forward Collision Alert Display Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  28. Forward Collision Alert Display (2) - Remove
  29. Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Remove the left and right front floor mat (1).

    Use a flat bladed plastic trim tool.

    Front Floor Console Extension Panel Bolt Access Hole Cover (1) - Remove

  32. Front Floor Console Extension Bolt (2) - Remove

    Move the front seat to access the retainers.

    Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

  36. Front Floor Console Lower Applique (1) - Remove

    Tire Repair Sealer and Tire Air Compressor Retainer (1) - Remove

  38. Tire Air Compressor (2) - Remove

    Rear Floor Mat (1) - Remove

    Move the front seat to access the retainers.

    Use a flat bladed plastic trim tool.

  41. Front Floor Console Bolt Access Hole Cover (1) - Remove
  42. Front Floor Console Retainer Bolt (2) - Remove [5x]

    Move the front seat to access the retainers.

  44. Front Floor Console Extension Panel (1) - Remove

    Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

  46. Front Floor Console Lower Applique (1) - Remove

    Move the front seat to access the retainers.

    48. NOTE:

    Use a flat bladed plastic trim tool.

  48. Front Floor Console Bolt Access Hole Cover (1) - Remove
  49. Front Floor Console Retainer Bolt (2) - Remove [5x]

    Disconnect the electrical connectors from the front floor console (1).

  51. Slide the front floor console (1) back enough to clear the instrument panel.

    Open the instrument panel compartment door.

    Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

    Radio Front Speaker Grille Bolt (1) - Remove

  58. Using a suitable plastic trim tool, release the retaining tabs.
  59. Radio Front Speaker Grille- Left Side (2) - Remove

    Radio Front Speaker Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  61. Radio Front Speaker- Left Side (2) - Remove
  62. Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Instrument Panel Fuse Block Access Hole Cover (1) - Remove

  64. Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Bolt (2) - Remove [2x]

    Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

  66. Reposition the component to access the electrical connectors.
  67. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

    Using a suitable plastic trim tool, release the retaining tabs.

  73. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.
  74. Instrument Panel Trim Pad - Left Side (2) - Remove

    Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Bolt (1) - Remove [6x]

  76. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.
  77. Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel (2) - Remove

    Using a suitable plastic trim tool, release the retaining tab.

  79. Instrument Panel Bolt Cover (1) - Remove [2x]

    Using a suitable plastic trim tool, release the retaining tabs.

    Disconnect the electrical connectors.

    Radio Front Speaker Grille Bolt (1) - Remove

  87. Using a suitable plastic trim tool, release the retaining tabs.

    Radio Front Speaker Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  90. Radio Front Speaker- Right Side (2) - Remove
  91. Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

    Using a suitable plastic trim tool, release the retaining tabs.

  94. Instrument Panel Air Outlet Bezel (1) - Remove

    Instrument Panel Trim Plate Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  96. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.
  97. Instrument Panel Trim Plate (2) - Remove

    Instrument Panel Trim Pad Bolt (1) - Remove [8x]

    Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

  100. Reposition the instrument panel trim pad (1) to access the electrical connectors.
  101. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  102. Instrument Panel Trim Pad - Right Side (1) - Remove

    Instrument Panel Airbag Bolt (1) - Remove [3x]

  104. Disconnect the instrument panel airbag electrical connector from the instrument panel harness.
  105. Release the retainer.

    Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Bolt (1) - Remove [11x]

    NOTE:

    The instrument panel upper trim panel and instrument panel airbag will be removed as an assembly. Instrument panel airbag is a single use component. The airbag will need to be removed and scrapped.

    Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

  108. With the aid of an assistant, remove the instrument panel upper trim panel (1).
    1. Pull the instrument panel upper trim panel (1) rearward to release it from the 4 front metal tabs and placing it above the retaining tabs.
    2. Push the instrument panel upper trim panel (1) forward and upward to access the 2 harness retainers.
    3. Release the 2 harness retainers.
    4. Remove the instrument panel upper trim panel (1).

    Windshield Defroster Outlet Duct Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

    Side Window Defogger Outlet Duct Bolt (1) - Remove [3x]

  115. Side Window Defogger Outlet Duct - Left Side (2) - Remove

    Insert the flat tip driver (3) in between the airbag chute (2) and the air bag module hook (1) at the dotted line or base of hook.

  117. Tilt the flat tip driver forward until the air bag module hooks (1) break or bend enough to relieve the tension and allow for easier removal of the airbag from the chute.

    Instrument Panel Airbag (1) - Remove

  119. Properly dispose of the airbag module. Inflatable Restraint Module Handling and Scrapping
