Removal Procedure

  1. Instrument Panel Carrier - Remove - Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement

    Wiring Harness Retainer (1) - Remove [2x]

    Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Bolt (1) - Remove

  4. GM5814869

    Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Duct Retainer (1) - Remove

  5. Wiring Harness Retainer (2) - Remove
  6. GM5814871

    Wiring Harness Retainer (1) - Remove

  7. Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Bolt (2) - Remove [2x]
  8. GM5814873

    Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

    Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Duct (1) - Remove

    Release the retainers with a suitable plastic trim tool.

  11. Instrument Panel Lower Insulator Retainer (1) - Remove [4x]
  12. Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator (2) - Remove

    Reposition the front side door weatherstrips as necessary on both sides of the vehicle.

  14. Use a flat bladed plastic tool at the front of the side door sill garnish molding (1) to disengage the retaining clips from the front side door sill garnish molding (2).
    15. NOTE:

    Left side shown, right side similar.

  15. Side Door Sill Garnish Molding- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Loosen [2x]

    Pull backwards from the top of the front side door sill garnish molding (1) to disengage the two clips on the forward vertical wall.

  17. Front Side Door Sill Garnish Molding- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [2x]

    Instrument Panel Wiring Harness Ground Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

    19. NOTE:
    • Note the location and routing of the instrument panel wiring harness prior to removal to ensure proper installation.
    • Quantity of clips and routing of the front floor console wiring harness may vary based on option content.
  19. Release the wiring harness clips, electrical connectors and remove the instrument panel wiring harness (2).

    • Note the location and routing of the instrument panel wiring harness prior to removal to ensure proper installation.
    • Quantity of clips and routing of the front floor console wiring harness may vary based on option content.

    Release the wiring harness clips, electrical connectors and remove the instrument panel wiring harness (1).

    Instrument Panel Wiring Harness Ground Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  22. Data Link Connector Bolt (2) - Remove [2x]
    23. NOTE:
    • Note the location and routing of the instrument panel wiring harness prior to removal to ensure proper installation.
    • Quantity of clips and routing of the front floor console wiring harness may vary based on option content.
  23. Release the wiring harness clips, electrical connectors and remove the instrument panel wiring harness (3).

    Body Wiring Harness Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove

  25. Floor Front Air Outlet Duct Bolt (2) - Remove
  26. Release the wiring harness clips, electrical connectors and reposition the body wiring harness (3).

    Release the wiring harness clips, electrical connectors and reposition the body wiring harness (1).

  28. Open the hood.

    Turn the 3 front compartment sight shield retainers (1) a quarter turn counter clockwise to release.

    Front Compartment Side Sight Shield (1) - Remove

    NOTE:

    Use a flat bladed plastic trim tool.

    Front Fender Ornamentation Vent Bolt (2) - Remove

  32. Release the retainers.
  33. Front Fender Ornamentation Vent (1) - Remove

    Using the appropriate trim tool, remove the windshield wiper arm finish caps (1) from the windshield wiper arms (3).

  35. Windshield Wiper Arm Nut (2) - Remove [3x]
  36. Using the appropriate tool, remove the windshield wiper arms (3).

    Air Inlet Grille Panel Retainer (1) - Remove [4x]

  38. Air Inlet Grille Panel (2) - Remove

    Windshield Wiper System Module Shield (1) - Remove

    Instrument Panel Tie Bar Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  41. GM5823950

    Body Hinge Pillar Outer Panel Hole Plug (1) - Remove [4x]

  42. Instrument Panel Tie Bar Bolt (2) - Remove [4x]

    Instrument Panel Tie Bar Bolt (1) - Remove [3x]

  44. Heater and Air Conditioning Evaporator and Blower Module Bolt (2) - Remove [4x]
  45. GM5823952

    Heater and Air Conditioning Evaporator and Blower Module Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  46. GM5823953

    Instrument Panel Tie Bar Brace Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  47. GM5823954

    Support the heater and air conditioning evaporator and blower module prior to removal of the instrument panel tie bar.

  48. With the aid of an assistant, remove the instrument panel tie bar (1) from the vehicle.

    Radio Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

  50. Radio Bracket (2) - Remove

    Serial Data Gateway Module Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove [3x]

  52. Serial Data Gateway Bracket (2) - Remove

    Body Control Module Bolt (1) - Remove [3x]

  54. Body Control Module Bracket (2) - Remove
  55. GM5830485

    Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Deflector Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

  56. Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Deflector (2) - Remove
  57. Instrument Panel Tie Bar Bracket Nut (3) - Remove
  58. Instrument Panel Tie Bar Brace (4) - Remove
