Removal Procedure

Drain the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716 L84, L87) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static L84, L87) .
Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (KL9)

Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove
Remove the engine wiring harness from the air cleaner outlet duct bracket.

Positive Crankcase Ventilation Fresh Air Tube (1) - Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Clamp (2) - Loosen [ 2x ]

CAUTION:
The camshaft position actuator solenoid valves must be kept parallel to the engine front cover during removal and installation. The camshaft position actuator solenoid valves can be damaged if they become wedged or stuck during this process.

Install EN-52287 Balancer Holding Kit (3) and EN-956-1 Extension Bar (2) to the crankshaft balancer (4).
Hold EN-52287 Balancer Holding Kit (3) and EN-956-1 Extension Bar (2) and Remove and Discard the camshaft position actuator solenoid valve (1).
Remove EN-52287 Balancer Holding Kit (3) and EN-956-1 Extension Bar (2) from the crankshaft balancer (4).
