Removal Procedure
Refer to SIR Warning .
If a vehicle is equipped with a head curtain inflator module ensure that the inflator module and tether are undamaged. If tether or curtain airbag are damaged in any way, they must be replaced.
Use care when working around the head curtain inflator module. Sharp tools may puncture the curtain airbag. If the head curtain inflator module is damaged in any way, it must be replaced.
- Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling
Pull down the windshield garnish molding (1) rearwards to release the tether from the A pillar.
- Access the windshield garnish bolt (2) on the backside of the windshield garnish molding (1).
- Windshield Garnish Molding Bolt (2) - Remove
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Windshield Garnish Molding (1) - Remove
Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Instrument Panel Extension (1) - Remove
Radio Front Center Speaker Bolt (1) - Remove [ 2x ]
- Radio Front Center Speaker (2) - Remove
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Bolt (1) - Remove [ 2x ]
- Instrument Panel Upper Bolt (2) - Remove [ 4x ]
- Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.
- Instrument Panel Instrument Cluster Hood (3) - Remove
Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Outer Filler (1) - Remove
Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.
- Instrument Panel Fuse Block Access Hole Cover (1) - Remove
Instrument Panel Upper Bolt (1) - Remove [ 3x ]
- Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel (2) - Remove
Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.
- Instrument Panel Fuse Block Access Hole Cover (1) - Remove
Instrument Panel Trim Pad Bolt (1) - Remove
- Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Instrument Panel Trim Pad (2) - Remove
Instrument Panel Trim Pad Bolt (1) - Remove
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Instrument Panel Trim Pad (2) - Remove
Extend the steering column to its furthest point to allow the instrument panel steering column upper trim cover to clear the instrument panel.
- Using a small plastic trim tool, separate the instrument panel steering column upper trim cover (1) from the instrument panel steering column lower trim cover.
Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Plate Bolt (1) - Remove [ 7x ]
Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Plate (1) - Remove
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
Using a small plastic trim tool, separate the instrument panel steering column upper trim cover (1) from the instrument panel steering column opening closeout.
Release the retaining tabs.
- Hazard Warning Switch (1) - Remove
Release the retaining tabs.
- Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet (1) - Remove
Use care not to bend or deform the thin area of the instrument panel trim pad.
