Circuit/System Testing
NOTE:
It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down before an accurate ground or low reference circuit continuity test can be performed.
- Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off
- Disconnect the appropriate electrical connector: P19 Speaker
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- A11 Radio - On
- Mute - Off
- Test for 2 to 10 V between the test points:
- Signal circuit terminal 1 & Ground
- Signal circuit terminal 2 & Ground
- If less than 2 V
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Disconnect the appropriate electrical connector: A11 Radio
- Test for infinite resistance between the test points:
- Signal circuit terminal 1 @ P19 Speaker & Ground
- Signal circuit terminal 2 @ P19 Speaker & Ground
- If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
- Test for less than 2 Ω between the test points:
- Signal circuit terminal 1 @ P19 Speaker & The other end of the circuit @ A11 Radio
- Signal circuit terminal 2 @ P19 Speaker & The other end of the circuit @ A11 Radio
- If 2 Ω or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω - Replace the component: A11 Radio
- If greater than 10 V
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Disconnect the appropriate electrical connector: A11 Radio
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Test for less than 1 V between the test points:
- Signal circuit terminal 1 @ P19 Speaker & Ground
- Signal circuit terminal 2 @ P19 Speaker & Ground
- If 1 V or greater - Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- If less than 1 V - Replace the component: A11 Radio
- Go to next step: If between 2 and 10 V
- Test or replace the component: P19 Speaker
