With Scan Tool
After releasing the parking brake, be sure the vehicle will not roll forward or backwards when removing the wheel blocks. If the vehicle is not in gear, the vehicle may move possibly causing personal injury.
The Transmission Service Fast Learn procedure can also be performed through the Service Programming System (SPS) where the Transmission Fluid Temperature threshold may be displayed.
The Q77 Transmission Control Solenoid Valve Characterization Programming must be performed before the Transmission Service Fast Learn procedure.
- Perform the following steps:
- Vehicle - Outside
- Parking Brake - Applied
- Drive Wheels - Blocked
- Engine - Idling - At normal operating temperature.
- Transmission Range - P
- Verify the scan tool parameter is not available: Transmission Fluid Temperature
- Select: Module Diagnostics
- Select: Transmission Control Module
- Select: Configuration/Reset Functions
- Select: Transmission Service Fast Learn
- If the scan tool parameter is available
- Engine - Idling
- Observe the scan tool parameter:
- Transmission Fluid Temperature = Transmission Temperature is Above Operating Temperature - Perform the following procedure/test: Procedure 1 & Repeat step 8
- Transmission Fluid Temperature = Transmission Temperature is Below Operating Temperature - Perform the following procedure/test: Procedure 2 & Repeat step 8
- Go to next step: If the scan tool parameter is not available
- Follow the instructions on the scan tool.
Verify the scan tool procedure was successful.
- If the procedure was not successful
Refer to: Step 1
- Go to next step: If the procedure was successful
- If the procedure was not successful
- All OK.
Procedure 1
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off - For greater than 10 min
- Engine - Idling - For 10 s
Procedure 2
- Brake Pedal - Apply & Hold
- Transmission Range - D
- Engine Speed - 1, 200 to 1, 500 RPM - For 5 s
- Engine - Idling - For 10 s
