Component Testing

  1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector: A97 Transmission Range Selector Controls
  3. Test for 5, 900 to 6, 400 ohms between the test points: Signal terminal 11 & Ground circuit terminal 12
    • If not between 5, 900 and 6, 400 ohms 

      Replace the component: A97 Transmission Range Selector Controls

    • Go to next step: If between 5, 900 and 6, 400 ohms 
  4. Press and hold the switch: S2A Transmission Manual Shift Switch - Up/Down - Downshift
  5. Test for 1, 900 to 2, 100 kohms between the test points: Signal terminal 11 & Ground circuit terminal 12
    • If not between 1, 900 and 2, 100 ohms 

      Replace the component: A97 Transmission Range Selector Controls

    • Go to next step: If between 1, 900 and 2, 100 ohms 
  6. Press and hold the switch: S2A Transmission Manual Shift Switch - Up/Down - Upshift
  7. Test for 600 to 660 ohms between the test points: Signal terminal 11 & Ground circuit terminal 12
    • If not between 600 and 660 ohms 

      Replace the component: A97 Transmission Range Selector Controls

    • Go to next step: If not between 600 and 660 ohms 
  8. Test for infinite resistance between the test points: Each terminal of the component & The component's housing
    • If less than infinite resistance 

      Replace the component: A97 Transmission Range Selector Controls

    • Go to next step: If infinite resistance 
  9. All OK.
