Installation Procedure
- If replacing cylinder head, swap components as needed. Cylinder Head Assemble
- Install timing components as needed. Intake and Exhaust Camshaft, Bearing Cap, and Lash Adjuster Installation
- NOTE:
Ensure that the cylinder head and the cylinder block sealing surfaces are clear of oil, grease and old gasket material.
Install the NEW cylinder head gasket.(2)
- Install the cylinder head.(1)
Cylinder Head Bolt(1) - Loosely install[10x]
- CAUTION:
Refer to Torque-to-Yield Fastener Caution .
CAUTION:Refer to Fastener Caution .
Tighten the NEW bolts in sequence shown.
Tighten
- Tighten the bolts a first pass to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
- Using the EN-45059 angle meter, tighten the bolts a final pass to 240 degrees.
- NOTE:
Use a suitable device to support the engine while repositioning the lift hook.
Reposition the lift hook from the EN-36857 Engine Lift Bracket to the cylinder head lift bracket.
- Remove the EN-36857 Engine Lift Bracket (2).
- Remove the suitable device holding the engine during lift hook repositioning.
- Water Outlet - Install - Water Outlet Replacement (LYX)Water Outlet Replacement (LTG)
Thermostat Bypass Pipe Bolt(1) - Install and tighten - Thermostat Bypass Pipe Replacement (LYX)Thermostat Bypass Pipe Replacement (LTG)
- Camshaft Timing Chain - Install - Camshaft Timing Chain Replacement
- Fuel Pump - Install - Fuel Pump Replacement
- Intake Manifold - Install - Intake Manifold Replacement
- Vacuum Pump Assembly - Install - Vacuum Pump Assembly Replacement
Fuel Feed Hose(1) - Connect - Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
Turbocharger(2) - Install - Compressor Air Intake Turbocharger Replacement
- Change the engine oil and filter. Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
- Fill the cooling system to the proper level. Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716)Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static)
