Removal Procedure

  1. Set the parking brake and chock the wheels.
  2. NOTE:

    If re-installing the original automatic transmission range selector actuator hardware module back into the vehicle, the Backup Park Lock Actuator must be activated prior to removal.

    NOTE:

    If the automatic transmission range selector actuator hardware module is being replaced due to a malfunction, the original module does not need to be activated prior to removal.

    NOTE:

    Perform this procedure before disconnecting the battery and removal of the actuator.

  3. Perform the Backup Park Lock Actuator Disarming procedure. Backup Park Lock Actuator Disarming (with MHG)
  4. Remove the charge air cooler outlet air tube. Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Tube Replacement
  5. Remove the primary brake pressure modulator valve pipe. Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Pipe Replacement (Primary) , or Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Pipe Replacement (Secondary)
  6. Remove the secondary brake pressure modulator valve pipe. Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Pipe Replacement (Primary) , or Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Pipe Replacement (Secondary)

    Remove the brake master cylinder (1). Brake Master Cylinder Replacement

    Remove the heater inlet and outlet pipe bracket nut (1).

  9. Reposition the radiator surge tank out of the way. Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (LYX without KL9) , or Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (LTG LYX with KL9)
  10. Disconnect the three starter cable retainers from the range selector actuator.
  11. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  12. Disconnect the range selector actuator lever link.

    Remove the three range selector actuator retaining fasteners (1).

  14. Remove the range selector actuator (2).
  15. Transfer components as necessary.
