Installation Procedure

  1. Install Timing Chain Tensioner Shoe (2).
  2. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  3. Install Timing Chain Tensioner Shoe Bolt (1) and tighten 25 N.m (18 lb ft)

  5. Install a NEW gasket.(2)
  6. Install Timing Chain Tensioner(1)
  7. Install Timing Chain Tensioner Bolt (4) - and tighten 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
  8. Remove the suitable tool (3) from the timing chain tensioner.

  10. Remove the EN-51367  holder (1).
  11. Install Timing Chain Upper Guide - Timing Chain Upper Guide Replacement 
  12. Check the position of the crankshaft, camshaft and camshaft position actuator adjuster.
    1. TEMPORARILY install the engine front cover with 4 bolts and the crankshaft balancer.

    3. Turn crankshaft 720 degrees in the direction of engine rotation by the crankshaft balancer bolt (3).

    NOTE:

    If the EN-51367  holder (1) can be installed, the engine timing is properly adjusted. If the EN-51367  holder (1) can not be installed, confirm the engine is set to cylinder 1 top dead center (TDC) of combustion stroke.

  14. Install the EN-51367  holder (1).
  15. Remove the EN-51367  holder.
  16. Remove the TEMPORARILY installed engine front cover and crankshaft balancer.
  17. Install Engine Front Cover - Engine Front Cover Replacement 
  18. NOTE:

    Right Side

  19. Install Front Wheelhouse Liner-Right Side - Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Right Side (Equinox)Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Right Side (Terrain)
  20. Install Camshaft Cover - Camshaft Cover Replacement
