Removal Procedure

  1. Remove Camshaft Position Actuator Replacement .
    2. Fig 1: Camshaft Bearing Caps

    NOTE:

    Many internal engine components will develop specific wear patterns on their friction surfaces. Components MUST be separated, marked, or organized in a way to ensure installation to their original location and position. Take precautions in order to prevent interchanging of parts.

  2. Tag or mark each part immediately when removed. Indicate location, direction, or orientation when necessary.
  3. Loosen the 12 camshaft bearing cap bolts (1) 1/2 turn working from outside to inside in spiral steps.
    4. NOTE:

    Observe the markings on the bearing caps. Ensure that each bearing cap is marked in order to identify its location and direction.

  4. Remove the camshaft bearing cap bolts.(1)[12x]
  5. Remove the camshaft bearing caps.(2)[6x]
  6. Remove the intake camshaft.(3)
