Removal Procedure

- Remove the battery tray. Battery Tray Replacement .
- Disconnect the transmission range select lever cable to the transmission. Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement
- Disconnect the transmission range select lever cable from the transmission. Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement
- Drain the transmission fluid. Transmission Fluid Drain and Fill
Disconnect the control valve body transmission control module (TCM) electrical connector (1) then unclip the connector from the transmission.
Remove the transmission fluid cooler inlet (1) and outlet (5) hoses from the retainer (2) on the control valve body cover.
- Remove the transmission fluid cooler inlet hose nut (3) from the transmission.
- Remove the transmission fluid cooler inlet hose (1) from the transmission.
- Remove the transmission fluid cooler outlet hose nut (4) from the transmission.
- Remove the transmission fluid cooler outlet hose (5) from the transmission.
- Plug and/or cap the hose and transmission to prevent contamination.
Remove the upper transmission to engine bolts (1, 2, 3).

- Remove the drivetrain and front suspension cradle. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Removal and Installation (Front Wheel Drive)
- Disconnect the wheel drive shafts from the transmission. Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Left Side , and Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side (FWD)
- Remove the rear transmission mount from the transmission. Transmission Rear Mount Replacement (Front Wheel Drive)
- Remove the front transmission mount from the transmission. Transmission Front Mount Replacement
- Remove the starter. Starter Replacement (LCV - FWD)
- Mark the relationship of the flex plate to the torque converter for reassembly.
Remove the torque converter to flex plate bolts (1).
- Lower the vehicle.
Remove the left transmission mount to transmission bolts (3). Transmission Mount Replacement - Left Side
- Lower the transmission side with the support fixture to allow clearance for removal.
- Unclip the engine wiring harness from the transmission.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Use a transmission jack in order to support the transmission.
- Remove the oil pump flow control valve heat shield. Oil Pump Flow Control Valve Heat Shield Replacement
Remove the front transmission to engine bolts (1, 2, 3).
Remove the lower rear transmission fasteners (1, 2).
- Separate the transmission from the engine.
- Lower the transmission with the transmission jack far enough to remove the transmission.
- Transfer components as necessary.
- Flush and flow test the transmission oil cooler and lines. Transmission Fluid Cooler Flow Test and Flushing
NOTE:
Ensure the torque converter remains securely in place on the transmission input shaft while separating and removing the transmission.
