Extension Housing Removal

  1. Install the DT-47678  flange (2) and the DT-47678-10  flange adapter (3).
  2. Mount the transmission on a workbench using the J-3289-20  holding fixture (1).
  3. Rotate the transmission into a horizontal position.
  4. Remove the transmission drain plug and drain the transmission fluid.
  5. Shift the transmission into NEUTRAL (N).

  6. Remove the shifter cover plate bolts (3).
  7. Remove the shifter cover plate (2) and gasket (1).

  8. Install the J-45012  holding fixture with the mounting bolts to the propeller shaft transmission yoke (3).
  9. Using a socket wrench, remove the propeller shaft transmission yoke nut (1).
  10. Remove the propeller shaft transmission yoke washer (2).

  11. Using DT-45019  flange and pinion cage remover , remove the propeller shaft transmission yoke (1).

  12. Remove the manual transmission gear position sensor bolt (1).
  13. Remove the manual transmission gear position sensor (2) and the manual transmission gear position sensor gasket (3).

  14. Remove the transmission gap magnet bolt (1) and the transmission gap magnet (2).

  15. Remove the rear extension housing bolts (1), nuts (2), and the brackets (3, 4).
  16. Remove the extension housing (5) and transmission extension gasket (6).
