Installation Procedure

- Install the NEW washer on the wheel drive shaft.
- Thoroughly clean the threads using denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
- Apply threadlocker to the wheel drive shaft threads. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
- Install the wheel drive shaft in the vehicle and through the wheel bearing/hub assembly.
- Wheel Drive Shaft Nut - Install a NEW nut.(Torque Prevailing)
- Align the reference mark on the wheel drive shaft and the differential flange.
- Wheel Drive Shaft Bolt - Install
- Wheel Drive Shaft Washer - Install a NEW washer. Do NOT reuse the old washer
- Tighten the wheel drive shaft bolts.
Tighten
- First Pass: 50 N.m (37 lb ft)
- Final Pass: (45 degrees)
- Wheel Drive Shaft Nut - Tighten 250 N.m (185 lb ft).
- Upper Trailing Arm @ Knuckle - Install - Trailing Arm Replacement (Upper)Trailing Arm Replacement (Lower)
- Upper Control Arm @ Knuckle - Install - Upper Control Arm Replacement
- Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm Cover - Install - Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm Cover Replacement
- Exhaust Muffler - Install - Exhaust Muffler Replacement (LCV)Exhaust Muffler Replacement (LF4)
- Install the right rear tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Non V-Series)Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (V-Series October 4th 2015 and Earlier)Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (V-Series October 5th 2015 and Later)
NOTE:
Do NOT reuse wheel drive shaft washer. Use a NEW washer only.
NOTE:
The threads must be clean and free of debris prior to the application of the threadlocker to ensure the proper adhesion and retention.
NOTE:
Ensure that there are no gaps in the threadlocker along the length of the filled area of the threads on the shaft. Allow the threadlocker to cure approximately 10 minutes before installation of the nut.
CAUTION:
Refer to Fastener Caution .
NOTE:
Tighten the NEW torque prevailing wheel drive shaft nut slowly to draw the wheel drive shaft into the hub assembly prior to tightening to specifications.
